My first brush with business was when my father bought home one of the very first refrigerators in our locality in my little village. Getting ice cream was very difficult in the 1990s as we could get it only when a pull cart ice cola seller would visit once or twice a week.
Having a refrigerator at home itched me to experiment with ice cream making. I became famous with my friends for it and they started asking for it and were willing to pay. This helped me establish my first venture which I later expanded by retailing popular ice-cola products. I made good money for an 11-year-old boy and it served me well as pocket money.
This business came to an end when I relocated to pursue my higher secondary school studies in a nearby town.
After working in a corporate job for more than 10 years things got a bit boring and an unanticipated situation presented an opportunity to throw my hands at a startup.
In 2017 when I cofounded SarvMaan by bootstrapping with three other partners and raising money from five individual investors. The startup got recognition from the government of India under the Startup India program. It operates in four cities in Maharashtra and has served 600+ customers by 2020.
Covid19 was a huge setback but being asset-light it survived a difficult time but had to scale down and I moved out to pursue my long-cherished dream of doing a world-class MBA.
This is not for profit venture in my spare time I started after my MBA after realizing how difficult it was to make meaningful connections on LinkedIn. My fellow classmates and many others shared the same pain.
